About Us
Our Vision
The Israeli Desalination Society (IDS) was established in 1998 at the center of a very problematic period in terms of water supply in Israel with the aim of promoting the issue of desalination in Israel and around the world.
The desalination industry is a major component of the national resilience of Israel, and IDS works to promote and develop desalination technologies and provide solutions to environmental and regulatory challenges, without any profit or business interest.
IDS goal is to “Develop and promote the appropriate use of desalination technologies for the supply of water to the State of Israel“.
IDS organized 12 annual conferences, each of them was planned to ensure the success of the implementation of desalination technology as a sustainable solution to the water crisis in the country.
We are proud of the fact that Israel has become a world desalination power. After the construction of 5 large desalination plants that provide about 75% of municipal water consumption, while improving the quality of water and seats for agriculture. To this end, IDS is home to all relevant sectors in the field – from universities and research institutes, industrial bodies, desalination and water treatment plants, to public authorities and government ministries – and engages in public information and media activities to make the environmental and economic aspects of the desalination world accessible to the general public.
IDS is eager to present and share the innovative solutions that are the core of the Israeli water industry, as well as to learn from the experience of other IDA members. IDS will offer the IDA conference participants professional visits, pre/post conference, to the advanced plants in Israel with state-of-the-art facilities to present. The professional and academic knowledge that had developed in Israel through time, along with the tangible outcomes that IDS can share with the participants of the conference, will attract many potential participants that seek to learn and adopt these technologies in their own countries.
IDS hope to attract 1,500 colleagues from around the world, and together with all of the water industry in Israel, it expect to unveil its activities and create common future cooperation with all desalination communities worldwide, and tighten the relationship with IDA.
